This chair mat is a little too soft for thick carpet and a 220 lb user. The chair sinks into the mat after being stationary for an extended period of time. I do the think softness of this mat will allow it to last longer than a firmer mat. This is a thick mat and it's important to read the instructions for acclimating (which I did) and it was pretty easy to get it flattened. I don't believe it will crack easily at all which is good because the standard mats get brittle quickly and crack as our carpet has a thick pad. The mat does get indented from the chair wheels. For me, this is a minor inconvenience vs. a cracking mat. I think the mat is matched pretty well to the cost.Like this one better than the last one I had because it stays in place A Lot better than the one I had before and doesn't look like it's going to do the whole curving up thing that can become a tripping (and just plain painful) hazard. Took one star for the fact it does get indentations where the wheels are, but they come back out each time. (I'd rather deal with the whole rock yourself out of the groove thing than the issues with the last mat I had.)I was really looking forward to this mat after reading the reviews and technical specs. It indeed is thicker than the average mat and you need to carefully follow the unpacking instructions they provide with it. If you don't you will beat yourself to death trying to uncurl it. Once uncurled, it has some weight to it when you go to install it. I was pleased with it until I put my desk chair with plastic wheels on it and started to use it. So far so good. However, dontrary to the claims otherwise, it DOES divot at the point where the leg and wheel make contact with the mat. You have to constantly rock to get out the the valley created. I thought it being heavy duty would prevent this from happening, but no dice. I really had high expectations for this product but it was no better than the others.I have had this for a few months and have no issues with the lips coming up. It sinks a little where my chair sits on it (5 rollers, I'm 185 lbs) but it returns to flat fine. I should probably have something thicker, but this works well enough. It creeps a little but is now up against my desk and not doing that anymore....since the first mat was so terrific even after 5 years of heavy use. Many thanks.I had an older chair mat, that was wearing thin. This new mat was perfect for my home office.Thicker that the standard mat, but I wonder how long it will last. The standard thickness developed many cracks after less than one year. The company honors their warranty and offered an upgrade.
