I did research in regards to cold sores, and there's some guy discovered the COMBINATION of silver and tea tree oil killed some other virus or something (?) well, I dont' remember the details, but I applied the principle to my mouth becuase I am very prone to cold sores - and yes, I am still vigilant about using hand sanitizer on shopping carts, not touching door handles if possible, etc. But that didn't always do the trick. THIS DOES!Love this lip balm and what a great price. I really like their toothpaste too.It is pretty strong with the tea tree flavor-odor so may not be for everyone but I like it.
